Golf Clubs – What Should a Beginner Choose?
Choosing the Right Clubs as a Beginner is a question of horses for courses – beginners need very different clubs to experienced players. If you are experienced and know your way round the golf course, you more than likely have developed preferences for specific clubs and have built up sufficient technique and skills to make buying fitted clubs a worthwhile investment. Indeed, learning all of the various factors that can alter your overall game based upon the clubs is very important.
There are plenty of club options available and picking a good set for your needs does not mean you have to spend thousands of dollars. You can spend very little and still get a set of clubs that meets your needs perfectly. As you might guess, purchasing the wrong golf clubs can be almost as bad for a golfer as purchasing the wrong car for a race driver. Without the most appropriate tools and equipment for your skill level and needs, you are not going to play well no matter how expert you are.
As a beginner, you are going to need to focus on purchasing irons. These are the primary types of clubs that you will be using, and thus where you need to focus the majority of your efforts. If you are concerning yourself with numerous types and styles, you are more likely to become overwhelmed with information and much less likely to make a good decision when you do purchase your clubs. The first thing for the irons that you need to keep in mind is how they are made. For a beginner it is much better to look for a set of clubs that are cast irons. This will provide you with a much larger sweet spot on the head of the club, which will allow for a bit more error in your swing without hindering you badly.
The main thing is to be able to hit the “sweet spot” and that’s why as a beginner a set such as the confidence golf clubs from amazon are going to get you into the game quicker because this type of set is aimed at less experienced golfers and the sweet spot is bigger and therefore you are more likely to hit well.

While a lot of people will tout the benefits of getting fitted, with a limited budget and as just a beginner, this should be considered a waste of time and money (you may not like golf, your swing will probably change, etc…)
Hitting with the clubs before buying is not a huge issue for a beginner. Not to be mean about it, but you’re unlikely to be good enough yet to worry to much about feel. At first, none of your clubs will feel right
Also, as a beginner with a limited budget, the driver is less important than some decent irons. Remember, most of your shots are going to be from 150 yards in. The putter and wedges will be doing most of the work, so a good starter set with good irons is paramount and you can then work your way out to using the longer clubs.
Once you have mastered your swings and greatly improved your skills then a set of forged clubs are much better because they allow the ability to influence the trajectory much better. However, with a much smaller sweet spot on forged clubs you will find that they are highly inappropriate for beginners. Never buy forged clubs with the idea that you will be needing them in the next few weeks. If you really think you will be moving to them that quickly you can just turn around and buy the cast iron set that you have just purchased to recoup some of your money.
The next consideration is the size of the head. Typically, golf clubs have a very small head; however, this gives you a noticeably smaller sweet spot and in turn demands a much higher skill level in order to play well. If you are a beginner or intermediate level player, you should look at using a larger head club.
Selecting the right set of clubs is essential in order to actually ensure that you are playing a good game. A poor set of clubs, regardless of whether they are top quality will cost you numerous strokes on the green and make you quite frustrated. Choosing the right set of clubs does not mean you need to purchase custom made clubs, but you do need to take your skill level into account to ensure you buy clubs that can actually help you improve your game and play well.
Finally, set aside a few bucks for a good coaching book / dvd package. Read the books and watch the coaching dvds a few times, to get the movements into your minds eye, then practice, practice, practice. One suggestion, go to the following site:- http://maximizeyourgolf.com. Using the inexpensive package available there (on sale when I last looked), you can find what you need to really get comfortable with your swing from the first bucket of balls. Then, when you have the budget and the confidence to buy a fitted expensive set of clubs, use that money instead on some lessons from a golf teaching pro. Then, go get that set !

Majoring in Sports Administration and in my opinion a beginner golfer in the sport needs to choose a set of golf clubs that are affordable, reliable, and accurate. Confidence golf supplies the market with over sized irons and large driver heads for an easy transition to the golf course. The “Confidence Power II Men’s” set is what I choose and will let athletic skill and coordination take over from here. I’m confident that with practice I can hit that 300 Yard marker with “Confidence”! Hint: Mental Mapping is a technique all good athletes & golfers use and is what separates the average from the exceptional.
